Technology Licenses
Technology licenses provide the right for one party, the Licensee, to utilize the technology of another party subject to specified terms and conditions, most commonly including licensing terms, confidentiality obligations and a royalty obligation. The term is often used in a software OEM context where the licensed technology becomes integral to a more comprehensive market offering from the Licensee; in that context the Technology License generally permits the Licensee to license under an approved version of the license terms entered in the name of the Licensee, so all the software is covered by the one license, rather than as a 2nd separate free standing license with the Licensor.
